On October 8, the Indian rupee opened with a marginal gain against the US dollar.
The rupee had closed at 96.77 on Wednesday, whereas today it opened at 96.71 per dollar, marking a gain of 6 paise.
The Sensex fell by 139.94 points, or 0.19 percent, to 72,498.76. It had closed at 72,638.70 the previous day and opened at 72,668 today. The Nifty 50 also dropped by 75.65 points, or 0.33 percent, to 22,527.40.
