The Indian rupee weakened by 23 paise against the US dollar on Friday, closing at ₹94.95 per dollar.
The domestic currency opened at ₹94.72 against the US dollar and fluctuated throughout the trading session. It eventually closed at ₹94.95, down 23 paise from the opening level.
At close, the Sensex was up 413.66 points or 0.56 percent at 74,729.27, and the Nifty was up 148.80 points or 0.65 percent at 23,146.15. About 2221 shares advanced, 1791 shares declined, and 185 shares unchanged.
