The Indian rupee weakened by 19 paise against the US dollar on Thursday, closing at ₹95.44 per dollar.
The domestic currency opened at ₹95.25 per dollar and remained volatile throughout the trading session. It eventually settled at ₹95.44, down 19 paise from its opening level.
At close, the Sensex was up 138.36 points or 0.19 percent at 74,902.59, and the Nifty was up 46.30 points or 0.20 percent at 23,477.80. About 1872 shares advanced, 2272 shares declined, and 155 shares unchanged.
