At the close of trading, the Sensex stood at 79,310.01, up by 2,008.61 points or 2.60 percent, while the Nifty closed at 24,536.60, up by 576.00 points or 2.40 percent. Approximately 2,868 shares advanced, 1,384 shares declined, and 169 shares remained unchanged.
