The Indian rupee weakened by 35 paise against the US dollar on Wednesday, closing at ₹96.77 per dollar.
The domestic currency opened at ₹96.42 against the US dollar and fluctuated throughout the trading session. It eventually closed at ₹96.77, down 35 paise from the opening level.
The Sensex was down 429.11 points or 0.59 percent at 72,638.70, and the Nifty was down 173.05 points or 0.76 percent at 22,603.05. About 1831 shares advanced, 2182 shares declined, and 172 shares unchanged.
