On Thursday, the Indian rupee weakened by 47 paise to settle at 95.39 against the US dollar, after opening the trading session at 94.92.
Meanwhile, domestic equity markets ended higher. The Sensex gained 579.48 points, or 0.75 percent, to close at 77,502.12, while the Nifty rose 169.85 points, or 0.71 percent, to finish at 24,175.70.
In broader market action, 2,436 shares advanced, 1,663 declined, and 165 remained unchanged.
