The Indian rupee weakened by 08 paise against the US dollar on Thursday, closing at 95.44 per dollar.
The rupee opened at the 95.36 level. Amidst fluctuations during trading, the domestic currency closed at 95.44 per dollar, marking a decline of 08 paise.
At close, the Sensex rose 113.61 points, or 0.15%, to 78,079.96, while the Nifty fell 40.10 points, or 0.16%, to 24,395.85. Market breadth remained nearly balanced, with 2,088 shares advancing, 2,052 declining and 174 unchanged.
