The domestic currency opened at ₹95.64 against the US dollar and fluctuated during the trading session. It eventually closed at ₹95.75, down 11 paise from the previous close.
At close, the Sensex was down 171.72 points or 0.22 percent at 77,369.11, and the Nifty was down 32.95 points or 0.14 percent at 24,219.05. About 1970 shares advanced, 2278 shares declined, and 199 shares unchanged.
