The Indian rupee higher by 32 paise against the US dollar on Monday, closing at ₹95.16 per dollar.
The domestic currency opened at ₹95.48 against the US dollar and remained volatile throughout the trading session. It eventually settled at ₹95.16, up 32 paise from the previous close.
Indian benchmark indices closed in the red after the Closing Auction Session. The Sensex fell 307.68 points, or 0.40 percent, to 76,956.83, while the Nifty declined 95.25 points, or 0.39 percent, to 24,080.40. Market breadth was weak, with 1,588 shares advancing, 2,469 declining and 173 unchanged.
