The rupee opened at the level of 95.40 per dollar during the trading session. Amidst fluctuations throughout the day, the domestic currency recovered and finally closed at 95.33 per dollar. A gain of 7 paise was recorded compared to Tuesday.
At close, the Sensex was down 187.90 points or 0.24 percent at 77,966.35, and the Nifty was down 35.75 points or 0.15 percent at 24,435.95. About 1808 shares advanced, 2327 shares declined, and 153 shares unchanged.
