On Monday, the Indian rupee opened at 96.14 against the US dollar and closed at 95.91, recording a higher of 23 paise during the trading session.
At close, the Sensex was up 776.01 points or 1.02 percent at 76,835.78, and the Nifty was up 228.50 points or 0.96 percent at 23,995.95. About 2646 shares advanced, 1530 shares declined, and 176 shares unchanged.
