The rupee had closed at 95.06 on Thursday; today, it opened at 94.72 per dollar, marking a gain of 34 paise.
The BSE Sensex fell by 132.98 points, or 0.18%, to 74,182.63, while the NSE Nifty 50 slipped by 25.65 points, or 0.11%, to 22,968.55. This decline follows a strong rally on Thursday, during which the Sensex surged by 2.11% and the Nifty by 1.66%.
