Sirsa Leads in Cotton Acreage and Production in Haryana; Sowing Across 3.61 Lakh Acres
Sirsa, Haryana: According to the provisional report for the 2025-26 Kharif season, Sirsa district ranks first in Haryana in terms of both cotton cultivation area and total production. Cotton sowing has been recorded across an area of 361,336 acres in the district, with an estimated production of 200,567.98 metric tonnes.
The report indicates that the total cotton area in Haryana stands at 971,970 acres, with an estimated production of 496,418.70 metric tonnes. In terms of acreage, Sirsa is followed by Hisar in second place and Bhiwani in third.
Cotton cultivation has been recorded on 209,827 acres in Hisar and 111,891 acres in Bhiwani. Meanwhile, Fatehabad ranks fourth with 90,624 acres, and Charkhi Dadri ranks fifth with 39,520 acres.
*Nuh Leads in Average Yield*
In terms of average cotton yield per acre, Nuh (Mewat) district ranks first in the state with 694.49 kilograms. Haryana's average yield has been recorded at 510.73 kilograms per acre. This highlights that different districts of the state lead in terms of total production versus average yield.
*Sirsa Was a Key Player in Cotton Cultivation in 2020-21 as Well*
According to the revised report for the year 2020-21, the cotton area in Sirsa was recorded at 209.10 thousand hectares, with an average yield of 406 kilograms per hectare. That year, Haryana's total cotton area stood at 719.86 thousand hectares. These figures for the 2025-26 Kharif season are provisional. Changes to the data regarding area, production, and yield are possible upon the release of the final report.
