The Indian rupee opened at 92.64 per US dollar on Wednesday and appreciated by 6 paise to settle at 92.58 by the close.
At close, the Sensex was up 2,946.32 points or 3.95 percent at 77,562.90, and the Nifty was up 873.70 points or 3.78 percent at 23,997.35. About 3698 shares advanced, 505 shares declined, and 90 shares unchanged.
