CCI Cotton Farmer Registration Begins; What to Do If Cotton Entry Isn't Updated on the 7/12 Extract?
Amravati: There is important news for cotton-growing farmers. The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) has commenced online registration for the 2026-27 cotton season via the ‘Kapas Kisan’ mobile app. Farmers can register from September 1 to October 31, 2026.
To sell cotton to the CCI, a farmer requires an Aadhaar-linked mobile number and an online record of the crop sown in the respective field. Consequently, farmers whose 7/12 land records do not yet reflect the entry for this year's cotton crop may face difficulties during registration.
Last year, farmers could personally enter crop details via the e-crop survey (*e-Peek Pahani*). This year, the Digital Crop Survey (DCS) is being conducted by appointed surveyors. In Amravati district, 1,901 surveyors have been assigned 535,663 plots. According to available information, approximately 11 percent of the survey has been completed so far.
Due to the slow pace of the survey, the cotton crop entry remains unupdated in the records of many farmers. However, the administration has assured farmers that the survey work is being expedited. According to District Collector Ashish Yerekar, the process has been accelerated following a meeting with the Talathi Association, and the work is expected to be largely completed within about a month.
If the cotton entry is missing from the 7/12 extract, farmers should contact the concerned Talathi or revenue officer to get their crop records updated. If necessary, the Tehsildar can also be contacted.
The Central Government has fixed the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for medium-staple cotton at ₹8,267 per quintal and for long-staple cotton at ₹8,667 per quintal for this season. Therefore, farmers should complete their record updates and CCI registration on time without waiting for the deadline.
