After opening at 94.63 in Tuesday's morning trade, the Indian rupee gained 7 paise against the US dollar to close at 94.56.

At the close, the Sensex was up 544.15 points (0.71%) at 76,808.48, and the Nifty rose 135.25 points (0.57%) to 23,989.15. Approximately 2,275 shares advanced, 1,795 shares declined, and 151 shares remained unchanged.
